Adventure Okanagan links two discovery camps The Canadian Adventure and Education Centre (CANADEC) and Coyote Creek Art Village & Rendezvous Camp. Set in a forest, farm and wetland ecosystem, CANADEC includes the Shuswap's premiere high and low ropes challenge course where you are encouraged to "play to learn." Coyote Creek is a learning and wellness centre/artists' retreat set in the Monashee foothills. This five day discovery package celebrates the United Nations International Year of Mountains and explores the elements of Water, Air, Spirit, Earth and Fire within the ancient Shuswap and Okanagan drainage basins.
ACTIVITIES:
You will be picked up at the Kelowna airport or your accommodation in Vernon or Kelowna, and shuttled along scenic routes to CANADEC, north of Salmon Arm. Your adventure begins with kayaking through the wetlands of Phillips Lake and a series of low ropes challenges. It continues with a hike to Eureka summit and climbing on several of CANADEC's eight challenge high ropes elements.
On Day 3 you will embark on an Adventure Mystery Tour that includes a shuttle to inspiring landscapes and includes a guided hike, canoe trip or bike trip through a land of spectacular lakes. The journey includes a picnic lunch and trail snacks with a scenic tour that links the Shuswap, Okanagan and the Monashee.
You will arrive at Coyote Creek Art Village in time for a sacred circle discussion where you will begin work on your pictographic painting while the coyotes howl. At Coyote Creek you will learn different ideas about the language of nature and pictographic symbols while creating your own totem art in painting, small sculpture and jewelry. You will team build a Moon Sculpture along the forested sculpture trail at Coyote Creek. Watch the work transform through the night and early morning hours.
Your five day adventure will include outdoor cooking, exploration of natural habitat, campfire discussion and storytelling and accommodation in tepees, tent cabins and forest huts, and a shuttle back to your accommodation in Vernon, Kelowna or to the Kelowna Airport.
