Wilderness Lakes and an Ancient River
A Four Day Fishing Adventure
A wilderness fishing expedition into the Monashee Frontier, the wilderness edge of the Okanagan. Visit two hidden lakes and the headwaters area of the Shuswap River. For four days you will fish for Gerrard Rainbow, Kokanee, Lake and Bull Trout. You will relax in comfort at Kokanee Lodge, enjoying their authentic Canadian cabins overlooking the spectacular lake views of Sugar Lake. You will learn the skill of canoeing with a guide that will take you on a journey through emerald green waters, where loons dance beside your canoe. You will fish Echo Lake, one of the most picturesque lakes in Western Canada, set amidst towering mountains, which create an echo, giving the lake it's name. You will spend two days at Echo Lake Fishing Resort which is within the boundaries of Echo Lake Provincial Park. Finally you will spin-cast or fly-fish the Shuswap River before you head home with an unforgettable outdoor adventure.
Activities:
Day 1 9am Winds & Rivers pickup clients at accommodation in Vernon, transport through the Monashee Corridor stopping at Coyote Creek Art Village and the Cherryville Artisans Shop for viewing wilderness art, stop at the Shuswap River Canoe Launch to view the river as it meanders though the upper Shuswap canyon. Arrive at Kokanee Lodge at Sugar Lake for lunch, then a 2 hour canoe orientation by Winds & Rivers followed by an afternoon and evening of lake and river fishing. Dinner served on the Kokanee Lodge Patio, accommodation in the Lodge cabins.
Day 2 A full day of fishing and exploring the lake and its beaches. Dinner, Breakfast lunch and dinner provided by Kokanee Lodge on their lakefront patio as well as accommodation in cabins.
Day 3 Early morning fishing, breakfast and lunch provided. After lunch, hike to Rainbow Falls on the edge of Monashee Provincial Park, then Winds & Rivers transports you over the Richlands plateau to the rainforest in Creighton Valley where you will arrive at Echo Lake for a guided canoe trip that ends at Echo Lake Fishing Resort in time for a barbeque dinner, settling into your cabin. Enjoy an evening of lake fishing.
Day 4 Relax in self-contained cabins, enjoy fishing all morning. Winds & Rivers will transport you to the Shuswap River for an afternoon of spin-casting and fly-fishing. You will have dinner at Kokanee Lodge then shuttled back to Echo Lake Resort for an evening of fishing. Accommodation at Echo Lake Resort.
Day 5 You will depart from Echo Lake for a guided tour of Creighton Valley by Winds & Rivers. Breakfast at the Blue Ox Bistro in Lumby, then back to your accommodation in Vernon by noon.
The tour is operated by Kokanee Lodge & Resort at Sugar Lake; Echo Lake Fishing Resort; and Winds & Rivers Escapes. Prices, and tour dates along with tour details can be subject to change and a minimum number of participants are required, please reserve in advance. Prices do not include taxes.
