Four Seasons of Mountain Adventure in the Okanagan
Adventure Okanagan links two discovery camps The Canadian Adventure and Education Centre (CANADEC) and Coyote Creek Art Village & Rendezvous Camp. Set in a forest, farm and wetland ecosystem, CANADEC includes the Shuswap's premiere high and low ropes challenge course where you are encouraged to "play to learn." Coyote Creek is a learning and wellness centre/artists' retreat set in the Monashee foothills. This five day discovery package celebrates the United Nations International Year of Mountains and explores the elements of Water, Air, Spirit, Earth and Fire within the ancient Shuswap and Okanagan drainage basins.
A Summer Camp spanning seven days for youth ages 13-18 or leadership interns ages 19-25. Participants will be picked up at the Kelowna Airport or accommodation in Kelowna (Monashee Adventure Tours) or Vernon (Winds & Rivers) and shuttled to Canadec outside of Salmon Arm where participants will take part in Learning Modules that include:
Ecology/Environment/Agriculture activities (gardening, building trails, wetlands restoration, sheep dairy and wool weaving workshops);
Community Activities (Art and theatre, making music, playing and writing, dialogue on peace, cooking meals);
Recreational Activities (Hiking and kayaking, challenge high ropes course, fishing, bicycling)
English as a Second Language programming; Media/public relations (Adding to international website, writing and photography, interviewing, debating).
